Re: supplements

Give us some information about your setup, temps, lighting etc. How long have you had him/her?

Re: supplements

And go easy on the supplements and concentrate on getting him eating. Too much supplement is as bad or worse than too little. I suspect since you say he's new that the dragon is still settling in and it may take a while to start eating well.

Re: supplements

we have a heat light and uvb light also we have a ceramic heat wave lamp.
His temps are between 82-86 warm end and 75-78 cool end.
The humidity is a tough one to maintain but with regular misting were keeping it between 70-80% were just afraid to leave the house in case he dries up while were out! we have him just over a week, i was told he might be off his food for a few days but cant help worrying about the little fella

Re: supplements

Honestly, I think you've just got to let him have time to adjust to his new housing situation.

Put his cage in a part of the house that is quiet and not used much. Don't handle him for a week or two. Present him with food every day, but don't try to force him to eat it. He probably won't eat much until he realizes he's not in any danger from you, then he'll eat like crazy.

I will suggest that you probably don't want to keep him on repti-bark. If he swallows it in the future it can cause some real impaction problems and it molds pretty easily besides. I'd switch him to newspaper or paper towels. Easy to clean up and much healthier for him.

But it sounds like you're doing a great job so far. Just give him a little space and time.

Thanks for all the help. I think hes settling in a bit better now, hes quite happy to sit in my hand now and hes eating more, slowly but surely.
Unfortunately I cant put his tank anywhere quieter(its in the living room) as we live in a small apartment but there is only 2 us so hes not disturbed too much.

How should I place newspaper? Should it be flat on the bottom or should it be scrunched up?

Re: supplements

I would place it flat on the bottom.

Re: supplements

Thank god!! He ate 15 mealworms yesterday, thats the most yet. Now if I could just get him interested in crickets again we would be sorted.
