My 1st Water Dragon

Hi, We just got our first water dragon about a month ago. and we like to start holding her. she would let us hold her when we first got her. but think that was cus she was not feeling that great.she/he (whatever it is) will let us pet her for a min or two then takes off like a bad out of ****. and when we do get ahold of her.she don't like to sit there. how can we make this easy for her and us.

Thanks,
Rick & Amanda

Re: My 1st Water Dragon

She sounds like she's still getting adjusted and is very skittish. That's normal. Try placing her cage in a very low traffic area of the house, and give her a week or two with very minimal handling and change. Once she starts to realize that her home is secure, she'll calm down a little, especially after she realizes you aren't going to eat her.

After a week or two, start holding her again. Pick her up at a regular time during the day. For instance - 1:00 every day go and pick her up. At first, only hold her for a few minutes, and then start increasing the time you hold her. As she gets used to you being there and touching her, she'll calm down and tame fairly quickly.

Re: My 1st Water Dragon

mine doesnt mind being held sometimes he'll jump outa the tank onto my arm when I go to take him out
after he finishes eating he'll sit on my lap for a bit then wanta run around. i feed him in the bathroom and he likes to run around but doesnt like that he cant climb anything.
he likes to jump at the hanging towel than look at me wanting a hand to get up to it
