Think dragons are in season but scared she's hurt
Hiya hope someone can help.
We have 2 chinese water dragons which we normally keep seperated as the female seems terrified of the much larger male. However recently they seem to be displaying mating behaviour. The male display and gives chase then starts to bite and grip the female, we then get nervous and seperate them. We are unsure of their ages as they are recent family pets. The male is aprox 60cm and about 3 x the f/m's weight, head to tail. and the female 53cm. We are genuinely scared to leave them alone as we would be sick with guilt if the little one came to any harm. Does the size seem ok to allow nature to take place. Many Thanks Davo ![]() |

That sounds exactly like mating behavior. If the male is that much larger and that aggresive I would suggest seperating them.

I agree with Ken..Perfectly normal behavior, but the size difference is not a good thing. Keep them seperated until the females are somewhat bigger.
