hi all, update, we have a new addition to family

i posted a few days ago asking for advice on getting buddy a little friend but I took the risk and went out yestarday and for our new eddition davie the guy in the shop said the first 48 grs will be tested as buddy might not have like it .

omg let me tell you , you'd think they had been together all along I have a few photos to show just how close in less than 24hrs .

They are captive bred from the same reptile supplier so as far as I know I have never needed to.

Regardless of whether or not they came from the same breeder supplier, they can still have parasites, illnesses etc. Its always best to keep them seperate for awhile to make sure the new one has none of the above. Good luck, I hope they both are healthy.

ok I will call him tom and check that out but I have always been under the impression that they only need quarintened if they had come from being in the wild

but I will check with him tom

Any new addition should be quarantined,,,much better to be safe and not loose your entire collection to a disease. I hope he's well.

I agree. ANY new addition needs to be quarantined, no matter what the source. Even the most diligent breeders can have an animal come down with parasites and illnesses.
If it is present in the new dragon you just infected your other one.

just a quick update I have checked with davie the guy I bought him off he said its not a problem as he has sold reptiles for a long time and only lost 3 reptiles in the last year and due to illness none of these were water dragons. i have had buddy checked since I got him and he was fine no parasites and illnesses .

My dragon was bought from a breeder at a reptile show and he had two types of parasites.
