WD with poorly eye - please help xxx
We have two young water dragons willow & spike. Willow is quite a bit smaller than Spike although we were told they are the same age. Shes never been much of an eater in the 2 months we have had them but recently her appetite has worsened. I noticed today she only had one of her eyes open so took her out to have a look - she has a milky coloured cloud on the bottom of her eye and what looks like a slight cut or graze to her bottom eyelid - ive tried to wipe it with cooled boiled water and cotton wool (she wasnt keen) but now it looks slightly worse - shes not scratching at it or anything but im worried - does anyone have any ideas
Any replies will be greatly appreciated
Thanks xx

i don't really know anything about water dragons but i'm going to bet that whoever replies with some answers will probably want to know about the enclosure you have them in like what are the temps, substrate, size of the enclosure, things like that. the more you tell us about how they are living will help get you a better answer. good luck!

What substrate are you using. She could have had some particle in it and now has a scratch or maybe still in there. Could have been scratched on cage furniture. If its not any better, I would suggest vet visit so you can get some eye drops.

Thanks for the reply - the enclosure is currently at 25C its around 30C in the day - they did have 50% steralised soil & the other half playsand - but ive taken it all out incase some sand has got in her eye - ive replaced with just kitchen towel until I can get my hands on some astro turf - or is there dangers with this???
Will ring the vets tomorrow and see if I can get her in

Very good idea getting the substrate out and replacing with paper towel. No sure about astroturf, as I have never used it. I have heard people using repti-carpet for them.

I would think she probably just scratched her eye on something or playing around they scratched each other. You can flush out her eye with eye drops, or just an eye flush. Ours were really rough on each other, especially to our smaller one. Their nails can get caught in the carpet, so Iwouldnt rec that.

You mentioned that one dragon is quite a bit smaller than the other. This could be the reason for the poor appetite.
The smaller one could be stressed due to the presence of a larger cagemate.

Regardless of whether or not its just scratched, if there is gunk and stuff built up and coming out, a vet still needs to check it.
