i notice today that my water dragon was digging. does any one know why he would be doing this? im curious because I didnt think that Chinese Water Dragon were known for borrowing

What size cage is he in? How old is he again?? He could feel insecure in his habitat...does he have enough stuff to hide in (plants etc)??

the tank is only 24x12x30 (l x d x h) he has alot of places to hide behind and I believe he is about a year old. 12 to 15 inches long total. i know the tank will be to small and probly is already but I am getting a new tankl as soon as I can afford it. wich will be pritty soon.

Thats most likely the reason, the tank is too small. It often surprises people when they find out what size of enclosure they really need!

Agreed. He's cramped. You might try standing the tank on its end, it may add an inch or so. They need height and love to climb. The wrong size enclosure can make an unhappy dragon, which can inturn affect his health.

if I did that it would actually take away space 24"l 12"d 30"h. so there isnt much I can do however the tank I am going to get is about 5 to5 and a half feet from end to end but its only about 3' high but I am going to build a top to make it taller. total will probly be 5 to 6 feet high

how big of a deal is this? and how soon should I get the new tank? is this a main priority or could it go on for a little while longer?

I would put the proper sized cage as a high priority. The dragon is alread exhibiting signs of being stressed by being in too small of an enclosure. It may also begin rubbing its snout on the side looking for a way out and injuring that.

i watch him all the time and I dont see him rubbing yet but I do realize that if that starts it wont be good this week when I get paid I will buy the tank. for this size tank what is the better option a small pond with a waterfall or a humidifier hard plumbed into the cage?
