In my opinion, Water Dragons are some of the sweetest reptiles ever. They're all personality and docility - most of the time. However they are also particularly skittish. When you scare them, they're less likely to bite you or whip their tail at you than other reptiles, but if pushed too far, they'll go for it. Also some tend to be nippy if they're hungry or uncomfortable. That seems to mostly be a juvenile thing, though, from what I've seen.
Kono was always very docile and exceedingly polite and tolerant of my intrusive human ways. He only ever bit me as a little thing - once just after I brought him home and he was scared, and once or twice when I didn't feed him fast enough. (He always insisted on being hand fed, and he was impatient. If I didn't get the worm or cricket into his mouth fast enough, he'd take a shot at my finger.) I wouldn't say he really ever loved being around people, especially as he got older, but he evidently didn't mind it, as he never tried to run and hide when I went to pick him up, and never seemed to panic. He did get upset and restless if I changed my routines around him, though.
I'd say if they are properly cared for, they tend to be gentle and even tempered. And I think they can and do get attached to certain people more than others. But I wouldn't go so far as to say they really want or crave human attention. Even when you really bond with one, they still pretty much just see you as a large food provider.

Chinese water dragons are not the easiest of herps to care for. They can get sick fairly easy if the conditions aren't correct. Stress is a major factor in their health issues along with enviornment (not just in their cage but in the room their cage is in).
As far as taming them, once you get them used to you they stay that way for a long time unless you give them a reason not to be. I'd go more into it but I have to run out of the house for now...let me know what you want to know and I'll give you as much information as I can.

Don't worry, I'm all about care. I've been asking about water dragons since I got here a year ago and the reason I don't have one is I wish to have more time for because of the care requirements and a bigger place for myself so I can completely control the atmosphere. I just found out that should be happening next year so I might have one a lot sooner then I thought. Even after this past year though I've been finding out stuff I didn't know. I also ended up falling inlove with Leopard Geckos and decided maybe I should make sure I can take care of something simpler that isn't a snake first and Skittles has been a Joy. I had him at 6 weeks old and he's now 8 months. I actually had a chance to get a Chinese Water Dragon for cheep but felt I didn't have the time for it...well I totally would but then I'd end up neglecting school. Man people already think I'm obssessed enough over how Skittles food should be taken care of imagine the poor water dragon...if I got a dehumidier for Skittles I'll probably end up getting a Spa in the room for the Chinese Water Dragon lol

I love my dragon... he's never bitten me. But from day one I've hand fed him. He'll swipe crickets out of my fingers
He's a spoiled little sucker. However, he's very skittish if I take him out of his enclosure. He likes sitting in my hand but only if I'm in his home (which is kinda easy.. the thing is 5 feet tall and 4 feel wide!!). He's still a juvinelle.. my goal is to get him to be calm and sweet outside his enclosure too!!
He definately has personality. He dives from the highest shelf into his pool.. and he sits on the shelf closest to the plexiglass and stares at me. He's a funny little guy. I do love him to pieces!

Mine was my absolute favorite pet ever. I really loved him. In some ways I'd love to go out and get another one right away.
They require a lot of care and a lot of planning, but they're definitely worth it.
