Actually, you may want to consider how big your water dragon will be getting and plan for it now. They get quite large very quickly.

In a small cluttered room, you may want to look into converting some furniture you already have into a home for him. I've seen some beautiful enclosures made from large display cabinets, old dressers and other furniture you can commonly find at yard sales for very cheap.

Also, you'll almost want to plan the enclosure around his water source. You'll need something he can at least soak his whole body in, even as an adult. Some people have used old sinks with drains that they can easily drain. Other people have sectioned off part of their glass tank (not the ideal place, but it will work if your dragon doesn't rub his nose against the glass) and used a filter. For Kono, I used a kitty litter box filled with water that I emptied an replaced every day.

The key is finding a method that you can clean easily, because they will use the bathroom in their water source. So you have to clean out their water daily and replace it with new water, unless you have a good filtration system. Once you know what you'd like to do with the water, you'll be able to plan the appropriate enclosure.

Congratulations on your new little guy. They really are great pets.

I'm very glad to see that you are taking as much interest in your new addition as you are. We're here to help you in any way we can to get you the information you need. Just a warning however, they aren't the easiest reptiles to keep nor the most difficult. They take a little more money, time and dedication than some reptiles to keep but as long as you're willing to learn and keep up with their needs you should do just fine with your new baby . The rewards of having them and caring for them correctly are awesome.

Send some pics our way and don't forget to give us updates on your little one.

Just a warning though! She'll probably grow out of that one fairly quickly 2! Water dragons are fairly demanding huh lol.
