We uro owners call this the glass dance. You may want to give them each a basking spot and more hides so they don't have to battle for the one prime spot.Make another basking spot so they can each have their own basking spot and some more hides for the same reason. You should also give them their greens in 2 separate dishes.I know they aren't fighting but having a spot for each is what they need.
What size cage do you have them in? What are the basking temps, warm end ambient temp and cool end ambient temp? What are you using to measure temps? How long have you had them? |

I had to try different techniques each year. One year I kept them together the next year I had to seperate them to get them to breed. Sometimes brumation is necessary to stimulate them to mate.

thanks for yr replies the glass dance made me laugh (never heard that before) there tank size is 4 half ft long and 3 ft high, they have 4 hide outs and plenty to climb on fresh plants and fake plants, i brought them about 5 mths ago.the hot end is 120 and cooler end is about 85 using tem gauges I will try 2 sep dishes for veg etc they also have 2 dusted crickets each a day. 1 thing if I separate will they fight when I put them back together again as mating season is over shall I leave till then ? they are only 6inches long

I would stop feeding them crickets or any other insects they aren't made to digest animal protein and this could lead to metabolic problems. They are herbivores and should be fed curly endive, escarole, dandelion greens and bok choy as their staple diet everyday.Your temps are good.I would keep an eye on them and if there are any signs of aggression then separate them. Some will never have problems and some will get along for years and all of a sudden not get along so just watch for it.I'm giving you a link to http://deerfernfarms.com/Uromastyx_Care.htm read the care sheet on food and insects.Actually read the whole thing it has good info.theres also some on breeding and such and is a great site. You can also buy bee pollen granules at health food stores and sprinkle some on their greens it helps increase their appetite and is good for them here's a link on the bee pollen and what's in it as far as vitamins and minerals just read til you get to the bee pollen part http://deerfernfarms.com/Food_Plants.htm Hope this helps.

I don't know much about them but aren't they a little small(6") to breed yet? Just curious is all.

Being a Uro owner and reading everything I can find on these wonderful creatures, I can tell you that you are in for a wonderfully frustrating time.
That being said, is that measurement from snout to tip of tail, or snout to vent? If that 6 inches is snout to tail then you have a baby and it is not sexually mature. If the measurement is snout to vent then you could be looking at breeding age, but I recomment measuring snout to tip of tail. Also, what species of Uro do you have? Sexual maturity will depend on the species. |

Yes depending on which you have it can make a big difference. Since adults can range from 6" to 36" among the various ones.
