Uromastyx egg care

My uro laid eggs a coupe of days ago and I have placed them in a hovabator with the eggs inside a tupperware container with holes, vermiculite mixed with water is inside the containers. Can anyone help in letting me know how to keep the humidiy at the correct level? Do I add water to the plastic container below or directly to the tuperware containers? Would appreciate any help with this! Thanks

The container thing works great, but you need to keep it moist by spraying the vermiculite itself and around the inside of the tub. Never directly spray the eggs though, even if you have to give them a quick spray daily. Also try cutting down on the amount of holes in the tub as this will decrease the humidity more. A damp (not wet!) paper towel layed on top off the eggs doubles as a good humidity reader and keeps it a little more humid. Again, make sure it's not too wet to drown the eggs. Remember it's the vermiculite that the eggs are laying in that matters most, not outside the tubs. This is from my own experience and I've had 100% hatch rate every time with this method... except the dud eggs I rarely have had.

Which kind of Hovabator do you have? You don't want the Turbo-fan model with Uro eggs. If you do, disconnect it. Too much air moving around will dry them out. The worst thing with Uro eggs is keeping the mould off. Keep the plastic tray in the bottom full of water, as well as some in the tupperware container. It helps to sit the eggs on perlite. Not directly on the vermiculite. If you do see mould startng to form you can very gently wipe it off. Good luck. It's kind of tricky Oh yeah if you have a one of those small zoomed humidity gauges--throw it away. They are totally useless and can be off by 20-30 percent.
