my aunts sister gave me what she said was a Nigerian Yellow Uro. i know how to take care of them and I can say shes really buitifull. but ive never heard of the breed? someone tell me if it is one:P lol and a idea of how much shes worth. they said about $600 cad. anywhwer close?

If you have a picture it will be easier to ID your Uro, Nigerians, are also called Saharans, Geyris, and Nigers, they come in Red, Orange ,and Yellow
Females have very little color on the stomaches and can be brown to brightly colored on top, male ussually have nice colors top and bottom, and will have black striping on their bellies, i beleive Morrocan Uros can also be yellow but have a black area on the back of the head, nad Mali Uros can be yellow on their back and be mostly balck other wise

As far as pricing
saharan go for 90-140 from a breeder and 200-300 at a petshop
Malis go from 30-100 (depending on quality) from a breeder and 100-200 at a pet store
im not sure about the Morrocans, but i've never seen them in a petstore

Yeah its is a Niger. i dont have pics because hes still in Calgary staying with a friend. cant get him here untill thanksgiving. was going to ship this week but not worth the money if I can wait a few weeks and bring him home with me.

i have one question about substrate. im setting up a 100g for him. do they need something like sand to dig in? and if so do I need special fine sand or can I use something like sterilized playsand. because the really fine sand would be really expensive for a enclosure that big. and im also wondering about UV. some websites say u can get away with Vit D supplementing the food and some say u need UV. not really a prob I have Reptisun 8.0's im going to use. but just wondering what is the right answer to that. and when it comes to handleing hes kind of scared. will he get better with time? can I let him like roam around my room under supervision or wouldhe try to split?

I would go with a washed a sifted fine playsand,natural, not manmade stuff
Just watch him and make sure he doesnt eat it , i dont know why but sometimes thay do, otherwise I now alot of people use millet seed as bedding for Uros or alfalfa pellets. Nope you cant just use supplements for them as far as I know they need the light, before I found the internet I was just giving my mali supplements and no UV lighting and he's very small and I think that is becuase of his diet and lack of uv when he was younger.
Handling depends on his temperment, you should leave him alont for the first week or two, i would start handling after the first week if he's eating regularly.
and he'll probably split if you let him roam, just block off any small spaces he can hide in and watch him closely and he should be ok.

thanks il ike the idea of alfalfa pellets because they decompose quickly if swallowed. maybe ill try that. also I was wondering. everyone knows that Bearded Dragons can have personalitys and seem somewhat intelligent. are Uros the same?

Uromastyx are full of personality!though i've only had three they all have greatly different personalitys. and they are pretty intelligent my mali deffinaty knows when foods comeing, and when someone else if getting something he wants, if I shake the bearded dragon food he'll come running becuase he likes that stuff alot,i give him a pellet or twoo as a treat every so often.
one thing I forgot to mention before is that if you bring one outside they go nuts, they move faster then I could think possable for them, get very defensive, even my layed back guy will hiss and try to bite me outside, their natual instincts kick in I guess
