Hello and welcome to Herp Center

Can you give us a little background regarding your husbandry,,,how old is the uro, temps, substrate, last time it ate, pooped, etc..this might enable us to help you better.

thanks for the reply , i got him about three days ago I have a bd so I pretty much know what I have to do.He hasent pood or ate yet, his substrate is sand wich we are going to probably get a diffrent substrate, his temps are 70-80 cool side, basking is 100-112, all the care sheets I read are all different...What I read on forums say their hyper and jumpy if your holding them or not, when I take him out he walks slow and when I put him away he trys to get out, but when I close the cage he falls asleep while scratching the side of the cage while standing up...

He might be experiencing stress due to the new owners, new enviroment, etc. They are hyper little things (mine was), but he also stayed in his hide and slept, lol. I would give him a few days before handleing him anymore to let him adjust, although continue to try and feed. What foods are you offering him?

stay away from carrots, they are high in oxalates (they can bind calcium). Plain ole iceberg lettuce is not very good for them either, it is mostly water. I would suggest offering some fresh greens (Mustard Greens, Collard Greens, Turnip Greens, Escarole, Endive, Bok Choy, etc.). Grapes should really be skinless for uros. And stay away from most insects as feeders, too much protien can cause lots of probs with uros, including kidney failure. We only offere crix maybe once every two weeks as a treat for our uros. A diet of complete greens/veggies will work just fine for your little one. A good diet plan to follow for uros would be a good Iguana diet plan.

Your basking temp is a LITTLE low, proper temps for a uros basking area would be closer to 120 with a cool zone of around 75. Make sure your uro has some hiding areas or something he/she can dig under as they are burrower and like to be in more of a cave mentality, expecially at night time...

Hope this helps, let us know if you need anthing else...
