Are raisins good for a uromastyx?

Hey, Hey! I was wondering if I could feed my uro raisins. He really likes them but before I give him anymore I want to be sure they're not bad for him. Thanks again for the info.

P.S. Where can I get dandelions?

Hmm, as a treat I don't think raisins should be a problem, but they are fruit, so I wouldn't add them as a major part of his diet. Greens and veggies are better.

As far as I've ever heard, you can't really buy dandelions anywhere. You pretty much have to find them in your yard. You just have to make sure they're collected from an area that you KNOW is free of pesticides, herbicides, fertilizers, etc. Even then, you should still wash them good.

Matt is correct. Uros have a similar diet as Bearded Dragons. Grapes are fine to feed occasionally but not as a staple.

Actually depending on what part of the country you are in dandelion greens are sold in the produce section just like any other salad greens.
It seems to be more prevalant in the northern area.
Down here in the southwest its just a weed!

BraveLestat,

You can have all the ones in my yard! The last thing I want to do is fertilize ......because then I would have to mow the lawn, and that just isn't happening!

From what I've been told Uros can't process sugars very well so fruit should be fed very limitedly. Also I buy my dandelions in the grocery store but they are a different species then the ones in my yard.Unfortunately you can't buy the flowers.

i think I read that the dandelions sold in the store are really chickory or something like that. i just collect seeds and plant them in my "garden"(actually just a plot of shallow dirt). i found a packet of dandelion seeds on ebay that I bought to plant becuase its a pain collecting the seeds though
