Are you looking only for CB babies? Two breeders that come to mind are Doug Dix (Deer Fern Farms) and Lindsay Pike (Urotopia), but if you don't need CB and are OK with farm raised check out fauna classifieds or kingsnake classifieds and look into Kevin Switzer, who is not only a genuinely good guy but also a very responsible keeper and retailer.

What species are you interested in?

Farm raised individuals are just that...raised on a 'farm', usually within their native or closely surrounding places of origin, that are then collected and exported.

I'd also like to note that before purchasing be sure to check out UroWiki for an up to date caresheet on this genus of lizard. While the caresheet posted here on HC is mostly accurate there are several large inconsistencies, especially in regards to diet.

Well, yes and no. As I understand it the adults are usually WC or simply fenced in an area either out in the open or in a made made facility. While these animals are still very much wild they are also technically captives since they are fenced in. These individuals will then breed and lay within the confines of the 'farm'. After four to six weeks farmed babies hatch and are soon collected for processing and export. The idea behind farming is to avoid extremely stressful often damaging effects trapping can have all the while preserving wild populations...or at least that's how it's presented. How close that is to the truth I don't know. I've heard that some supposed 'farm raised' individuals are actually wild caught and sold as farm raised to avoid illegal collecting fines or jail time. Remember many species of this genus are protected and various countries of origin have either banned export or have been boycotted by the US and other countries due to political reasons. Because of this a black market exists.

    Re: Uromastyx Breeders

I am receiving my first Uro day after tomorrow from Doug Dix at Deer Fern, a male Mali born November 2011. His reputation seems stellar with the URO crowd and everyone directed me to him when I asked the same question as Thaboi.

I will report how the delivery went with pictures of my new pal of course
