i would think that iguana chow has alot of protien in it so it couldnt be all that good. you can use as treats every few days sprinkle on food the juvinile veggie iguana pellets.

Re: Mali Uro Eating Iguana Chow?

Even iguanas shouldn't be fed much iguana chow, it's not that great, definitely no substitute for fresh greens.

People who use pellet food in addition to greens always soak it until it is very very soft otherwise it can actually dehydrate the lizard during the digestion process.

Beware, all brands are not created equal!

I agree. I would stick with the fresh veggies with occasional crickets as a treat.

Re: Mali Uro Eating Iguana Chow?

the juvinle veggie iguana food is ok but only sparingly. you can soak it however then it sticks to his face and you have to wipe it off. mouth rot can occur from freeding sticky foods if not cleaned off there face. so I do feed it dry but he only gets about 10 pellets a month and the juvinile pellets are very small. if anything I use them to get him out of his hide when other people come over and he hides so I use them to lure him out. LOL

Re: Mali Uro Eating Iguana Chow?

Okay yea I was just checking because I read iguana chow/bearded dragon chow were good for them, but we all know. 10% of the stuff we read is true. Are you sure about the crickets as treats? I wouldnt mind that, but Ive heard long term problems come from the inability to breakdown protein. and I dont want them to get hooked on crickets and not eat the healthy hydrating veggies

Re: Mali Uro Eating Iguana Chow?

crickets are not needed but no more then 2-3 every couple months wouldnt kill them and my guy will get them in a second when I drop one in. so I can only assume he wants it and its a great oppertunity to lace it with some vitamins

Re: Mali Uro Eating Iguana Chow?

That is true that crickets and other bugs are bad for them, but like 2 every month isn't going to hurt them.

I haven't bothered with them just becuase my mali is the only reptile I own so going out to buy just a few crickets isn't very convnient.
