My Enclosure

Alright, here are the pics of my enclosure for my mali uromastyx.
I made sure that EVERYTHING is touching the bottom of the tank, the lights are giving out good temps and none of the rocks are sharp.

I'm using screened washed play sand, and it's about 1 or 2 inches thick... I think.lol
and I wet the bottom layer of sand just a bit to make it easier to dig around in.

thank you uroex for the ideas for the hides!

on these pics I hadn't fixed the basking spot where a loose part of slate was kind of hanging off. but no need to worry now!

the actual tank is 70 gallons and about 49" long but it's a little narrow so maybe in a bit i will be able to build her a new one.

no, i don't have a IR tem gun yet but i'm looking around for one.
i don't have the uro yet but i plan to get her this saturday.
you'll be able to tell when i actualy get my mali cuase' i'll switch my avatar from your pic of rex to mine.lol

the light's i'm using are
for heat:sun glo 150 watt. tight beam basking spot lamp
and for UVB:26watt. repti glo desert terrarium lamp 20.o UVB
i thought i told you that in a mail thingie......

also, dose anybody have a good name for a female mali uromastyx?

if i can't think of any i have the back up name Juliette (her possible mate is named Romeo)

Looks good, but not for a baby. Loose substrate like sand is unsuitable for young ones. They should be kept on paper towel or butcher paper until about 6 months of age.

the one i'm buying is probably going to be 4 yrs. old so no problem there.
also, if any of you guys have had some experiance with a gravid uromastyx or hatchlings could you maybe visit my other thread?
it turns out that the one i'm getting is guilded.

I hot glued the two peices of wood that hold it up to the tile and i push the "legs" down all the way to the surface... and wiggle em'. thanks for the advise everyone!
make sure you look at my other new thread called my new uro (i think thats what i named it) and see some pics of my baby!
