since you can raise or lower the basking lamp I would reccommend a 100 SB Maga ray and that would give you heat and uvb and you lower it till the air temp stays at 100 and then have no light on the other side and if it stays at 83-85 your all good. then you have to check your basking spot with a ir temp gun and if your 125-130 your all good if its too cool then raise the basking spot up. or you can use the megaray with another loww watt house bulb if your not hittin targets. i would deffinatly think about seperating them down the road. constant breeding attempts by the male can stress the female out. Also if your not spot on with the temps I just mentiond then your uros are not totally acting like they would in the wild. things can change when they have a perfect envioroment and perfect temps. good luck with them though not a bad start. i am shure in your care you will make it better though

Yeah, the guy I got them from gave me a heat lamp, and it was NOT putting off enough heat at all! So I had to run to Tractor Supply to get a new one, and all they had were 200 watt, which is why I have it hanging. But the other one was only 60 watt, and barely reaching 95 degrees on the hot side... Right now, its reaching about 120. So I might lower it JUST a tad bit more, but since getting the new lamp, they came right out of the hides, and have been very active, and laying out in the heat, like "Thank you mom!" Hubby and I will be making a new enclosure soon, so they'll have to put up with this one until then, but it shouldnt be too long. I know that there is a chance to have to seperate, and if that time comes, then I will. But as long as they act fine, and dont bother each other, I will let them be. They have been rubbing, and curling up together, and laying with each other very nicely, so I dont think I have a problem. But - maybe someday I will.... only time will tell...

They may "act fine" when you are home but what happens when your not and its to late? Also, you cant use mesh for uros, they do not hold heat and humidity the way glass tanks do.

I would strongly advise you to build 2 separate tanks for the uros as soon as you can.
Lizards aren't social animals. They don't get 'lonely' or make 'friends'.
People anthropomorphize lizards and project our emotions on to animals who do not share the same feelings.
It would be best for both of them if they had their own territories.

i agree with the seperation they sit all cudly becuse the tank isnt too big enough for them to seperate they have no choice. when they become more comfortable one of them will try to establish dominance and I hope one of you his home if this happens. Not saying this will be the case in the next month but I would really try to seperate them. Then mate them and seperate again. sell babies and make money. id buy one from you

yes, they are a red and a yellow Saharan. I will get better pics soon, I just havnt been able to yet. And I know you all are the experts, and very knowledgeable, but I disagree with them only cuddling, because they have no choice. I have 2 hides in there right now, and they will NOT go one in one, and one in the other. Sarah went into one, and spike tried to join, but couldnt fit all the way, so he backed out, and laid right outside the entry of the one she was in, and next to the empty one that he COULD HAVE gone in.. So I put a larger one in, and they both went into it. Also - I dont work. I have a website, and sell pet items, and stay home with my 4 yr old son, so I am ALWAYS home... And if Im not, hubby is, because we only have one vehicle. I am WELL aware that I could have a problem, and I am WELL aware, that if their behavior becomes evern the SLIGHTEST bit aggressive toward one another, that I will need to seperate them, and have NO doubt that I will.

I appreciate ALL of our help, and your suggestions, and I will post some close up pics soon. Also - About the "breed them, sell them, and make some money" IF they breed, fine. IF they dont, great. These guys are part of my family now. NOT money makers. If they never breed, I will love them JUST the same... And if they do, I will have a LOT of Uros, because I wont sell them just to do it. Same as my gliders, I will screen every person interested, and if they dont seem right to me, they wont be sold. My animals are my pets first and foremost, and thats it. I could care less if they ever have a single clutch. I dont know what you meant by the comment, so I just wanted to be very clear on that point.

i used to have gliders myself however couldnt keep up with there hours and felt bad for them so I sold them to a person who is up at night. they have since then has babys ans are still doing fine. they were very sweet pets, untill they jump ans fly and attach to your face, LOL

Awww... you got face hugs! lol Thats a sign of love! I have 5 right now, and 3 joeys in pouch waiting to come see the world! I had another that I rescued who was almost dead when I took her in, and after a couple months she was healthy and went to her forever home.
