Re: Male or Female?
Try our caresheet, it does have a breeding section:

Re: Male or Female?
In my experience males were the calmer of them. Care requirements are about the same. You will need to brumate them for breeding. Also the eggs are kind of tricky to incubate if their your first.

Re: Male or Female?
thanks kenman, that helped with the breeding.
but I was just wondering if there are any big diffs just as having them as a pet too. like, do they have heats or somthing? if so what would I have to do for her? is there a chance of her being hurt when laying the eggs? also, i think i've heard of a whole "laying?" of eggs being all unfertile. have you ever heard of that? mabye that was with wc. or somthing like that. wouldn't that stink?! |

Re: Male or Female?
Not really. They only lay once a year. It's good to have a egg chamber for eggs to be laid so she doesn't become egg-bound. I've never kept females that I haven't bred so I never had any issues.

Re: Male or Female?
never bred so I cant help u there. dont plan on it anytime soon. as far as male or female cant help you on temperment. but if you want one with color then a male is what you want. you can find some what is called mimic females which look very sim to a male but is female. however there not really that common in mali's

Re: Male or Female?
thanks,
the main thing I want in my mali is a good friendly "not-shy" attatude. although I think it would be very cool to be able to breed. i don't mind too much on the coloring.... i was thinking that I would have to sacrifice somthing... to bad it would have to be those beeeutiful markings ![]() |
