Re: Uro Subsrate

I use the excavator clay for my Schneider Skink. Its worked great, but don't expect your guys to burrow in it once it hardens, that is a good idea about using something else under the clay, it gets rather expensive, I must've spent at least $60 on substrate for my 20 gallon long tank, but on the plus side i didnt have to buy any hides, there sculpted right into the clay. (ballons work great inflate them, once the clay dries you just pop them and pull them out.

Welcome To ReptileUV - Mega-Ray® UVB lamps for reptile lighting worldwide

Get the megaray. It produced heat and UV and will last about a year.

You have to remember, your setup is not just sand. In fact its very little sand. Its mostly rock with sand in the middle. I would advise against just sand. Your setup is much better than that. Food dish is elevated over the sand, and you have lots of rocks and things.

Nice.

Yes you do order the megaray online at least most do and if the stores have them they buy em from the same website and sell them for more. anyway if your temps in your home are 72+ which most people tend to keep there homes then you would need nothing for night. some uros tend to do better at 75+ but as long as it never drops below 70 you are all right. i wouldnt recommend a constant 70 but at least 73 and up if you are in a cool climate and you cant maintain 73 and up then in winter time you can use a heat emmiter that has no light. its like a coil of ceramic that you screw into a light bulb socket and it gets hot and emmits heat. LOL Anyway answer the first few questions and i can get you onto the road with the correct size and wattage bulbs.
it's a fish tank about 70 gallons(i think) 13'T, 49"L, and i think 7-8"W
my mali is an adult not positive how long, (not where i can measure him right now)

Re: Uro Subsrate

Just another piece of info. Looks like you're getting a lot. The excavator substrate can be mixed with sand so that it doesn't harden up quite so much.

Re: Uro Subsrate

UVB bulbs also emit UVA.

Re: Uro Subsrate

just remember, UVA bulbs do not produce UVB. You need a UVB bulb since it produces both
