Re: Panting????????

You're set-up is really fantastic!! However, I have not seen so many lights since the last concert I went to! I believe it was the Trans-Siberian Orchestra in 2005 - no - Stomp - 2006!

The suggestion of a stronger halogen lamp is a great idea. This will cut down on the number of lamps you have - and save on electricity, too! I know what the cage is for the lights. I've used them before:

Re: Panting????????

That's definitely the most lights I've ever seen on any kind of enclosure. Wow! Your set-up looks very nice though.

I always liked having lights on top rather than actually in the enclosure. That way I knew that my animals could not possibly get burned.

Did you ever move the probe to the basking spot? If so what was the reading?

Re: Panting????????

We'll see what happens when you put the wood on top.
Just for future reference those "special basking bulbs" without the UVB are the same as buying a halogen floodlight at a local hardware store. Except the special reptile bulbs are 2 to 3 times the price.

Re: Panting????????

Mine pants from time to time...I've got a 100W Mega ray and a 40w 5,000K compact flourescent...with an open top tank, that does the trick...i've put an Under Tank Heater underneath her hide for night times
