I am sorrey to hear that. My roommate just bought 2 nigerian uros and they have a problem with scratching and trying to climb out. I am wondering how we should get them to stop. We tried to put wood infront of the glass but they are going up on the wood and keep doing this so that did not work. Any segs.

This is often called the glass dance. It is more often seen with wild-caught Uros than captive bred. Basically they want to get out becaus they are not satisfied with their living conditions. Try making more hide spots available in different temp areas.

We have 3 uro's, 2 housed together and one alone. The pair is in a 75 gallon aquarium and its filled with clean sand and actually rocks and a pampered chef pizza stone
they love to hide under stuff and it was wide enough for a full cave effect without fear of them burrowing under the rocks. They also have a huge log in there. The baby one has a smaller cage with sand and rocks. They love to bask, so they have their heat lamps. I may have a pic on our website you could view. We have no water for humidity in either cage and they have all thrived. We place no water in their cage. We bathe them often and they love it, they get enough water from their food. The sand is easy to clean and they love to dig in it. Ours also shed continuously. Im sorry for your loss, thats hard, I wish you much better luck with your next reptile. |
