This is just some of the info I have found..and read the same thing in various other places. Don't get me wrong,I hear what you all are saying too, i'm just finding different info or hearing different info, so all advice I appreciate, if these animals are fairly new to the pet industry and ongoing researh is still going, then I see no problems in trying what others have experienced either, I do agree tho the greens would be a more healthier diet. |

From the research I have done regarding protien intake in uros, too much protein causes kidney damage. Yes, it boosts their growth and beefs them up but they do die younger because their kidneys can't handle the biproducts of protien metabolism in high quantities. A few crickets (4-5) once per week is ideal for a young uro. Once they reach adulthood the protein actually should be cut even further if not eliminated as they are no longer growing. Uros also are creatures that like to dig. The sand/soil substrate or washed playground sand is good for them once they are of certain age. Ours is over a year old and is constantly digging when he is awake. We have never had any problems with him at all.
Maybe I should stick to uros.

My uro is on paper towels and he has a spot for his desert snow. He's never aeten it, and he digs up the towels and travels under them like he's underground! I also know that he is very healthy so i'm satisfied! |
