My daughter and her friend were coming home yesterday from Ft. Myers beach when they came upon a HUGE Florida soft shell on the median trying to cross a 4 lane rode !!

They pulled over (making sure traffic could see them) and picked her up. She was extremely hot to the touch and lethargic....My daughter rode home with her sitting on her lap ! (believe me ....she heard it from me for that one). Once they got her home, we put her in the tub with some water and within a few hours she was more active and showing a slightly wilder side.

Here she is, in my bathtub....


We've got a call into Crow wildlife rehab to see if they feel she needs to be seen and if not, we'll be releasing her into a pond near the area she was found.

Good job!!!! I love rescue stories.

Great job!! give her a pat on the back from all of us! She has some guts riding with a softshell on her lap though (arent they REALLY hard bitters?!!)

Thats pretty cool! Your daughter was lucky that the turtle didn't muster up 1 more spunk and bite her, but her heart was in the right place.
