ANY SUGGESTIONS for a Custom Above Tank Basking Area?

I was thinking of buying plexiglass and making a four walled, and half inch thick bottom "shelf" with a ramp extending into the water about 12 inches.
I would make the walls high so the turtles could not climb out and I would adhere the basking area to the inner lip my aquarium has along the frame with an animal safe silicone I got from petsmart.
    Does that sound fine?
    Or any suggestions/tips/advice?

I'm not sure the turtles will be able to get up plexiglass. You may need something different for the base.

    What are they in now?

Am I understanding that the "box" that forms the platform will end up being above the rest of the tank?

How sharp of an angle will the ramp be at? Will you have something to make a tread on it for gripping? Will he be able to jump off the ramp at any point along it he chooses? How will you be securing his light/heat over the platform? The bottom of the platform will be a plain piece of plexi? Are you thinking clear or colored?

I am probably gonna put little strips of silicone horizontally along the ramp also the ramp will be at either a 45 degree angle or something even less steep umm and I was thinking of either AstroTurf for the bottom of the "box" or river rock and the lamps are clamp lamps so I would clamp them on the tops of the walls and angle them down and for right now they have a turtle dock resting on a tower of bricks cause they weighed the dock down into the water...lol

oh and plain plexi, and yes he will be able to jump off at any point, unless he shouldn't?

I did something similar once, and the silicon treads are the way to go - I tried shower treads, and the peeled off in a week. Dots or strips of silicon, and a shallow slope should be fine. You could even stick sand in the silicone while it is drying if you wanted a rougher texture.

Just be sure that your walls are taller than you think you need, and that any areas of the ramp/shelf that the turtle can jump or fall off of are not too far above the water, and that the immediate area is clear of underwater obstacles (just in case!)

do you think a wall about 10 inches high is good enough? or should I make it like 15? lol

how thick would you say the walls should be?

I'm figuring the ramp and bottom shelf will be 1/2 inch thick

How big is the tank? I am trying to think about the wall height and it should be based on how large the turtle will be able to grow to, before your going to need to upgrade to a larger one.

I don't imagine upgrading for some time it is a 75 gallon tank 4ft long 12.5 inches wide and like 18 inches tall and I believe since they r both males roughly max around 8 inch shells
