Sexing Red Ear Sliders
@graduationxday, I was looking at your sig and noticed you did not know if your red ear slider was male or female. One good way is their claws. Males have much longer claws so that they can latch onto a females back during mating where as females have shorter claws as they don't have much use for them.

Re: Rocks
You can call me Lauren. lol.
And that's what I've heard, but the thing is we only have one so I have nothing to compare it to. Hah.
I'll feel sorry for the little guy if it's not a guy cause we call him Jeremy. lol

Re: Rocks
Well, look on the bright side; you can add one more that you know the gender of. As for a name, I couldn't tell you. Mine was named Jaws, as she snapped at anything that came into her path.

Re: Rocks
Haha. We'll prolly just continue to call her Jeremy. It sticks.
What did you keep yours in?
I'm thinking of making her a tank out of a sterilite [[sp?]] tub and such.
But she's not really my turtle, she's my sisters. So I have no say in that. :/

Re: Rocks
She was in a 20 gallon with mostly water and a basking area. Then I built a big two level pond out back for her with some spots to crawl out and bask in the sun.
As for the name, not like she is gonna care what she's called anyway.

Re: Sexing Red Ear Sliders
I'd love to do something like that for Jeremy, but I doubt we'd be able to.
We're about to move her to a 20 gal.
Poor thing's in a 10.
But like I said, I can't do anything about that because she's not my turtle. :/

Re: Sexing Red Ear Sliders
Fair enough. Tho for future possibilities, you can buy ponds that are 2 feet deep and dig a hole in the backyard and put it in. Buy a pump/filter that fountains water out the top and get some concrete and bricks or stone and you can mason a nice rim around the pond and you are done. What I did may have been more complicated, but for very little money, you can have something that looks really nice

Re: Sexing Red Ear Sliders
That does sound really awesome.
I just doubt my parents would let me do that in our backyard. lol.
And I couldn't protect it with a fence or anything, cause our neighbor's dogs can climb fences... :/
