We have a eastern female that is gravid with eggs. We caught the male and female mating on May the 14th. The male and female were always seperated until this year. We no she can lay eggs because when my fiance obtained her 13 yrs ago she layed eggs within a week of being in her captive environment, no hatchlings then. Now that you have the history here's the question. She started 4 days ago trying to get out of her outdoor enclosure. At about 5 A.M. she starts pacing aggressively the inside of the enclosure for about 2 hrs then calms doen a little. At dusk she does the same for about an hr. during the day she will walk around a little mostly basking. They have a 8ft x enclosure the pond is 6ft x 4 ft. She has multiple hiding spots to lay, some have wood chips, some have sand, some have soil, some have just tall grass. She likes the grass area the most but isn't digging. How long can I expect this dance to take? We keep everything very moist for her. How long do I wait before I take her to the vet for possible impaction? She hasn't been coming to the top at night for her nightcrawlers. I haven't seen her eating any of the repto pellets that we put in the pond, so I don't no if she has eatin anything in the last 4 days. Any suggestions will be appreciated!!!!!!!

While females are gravid, almost laying, they do not eat. And maybe give her some time where she can't see you at all. Females of all types of herps are very secretive about laying eggs.
