How to Make Healthy Aquatic Turtle "Ice Cream"
I made up this aquatic turtle "ice cream" when my red-ear slider turtles' birthday was coming up. It is calcium rich and very delicious (for the turtles). It is also really easy to prepare. Here is how to make a healthy treat for your aquatic turtle.
What you'll need Water bottle Cap Freezer Small spoon (preferably disposable) Ingredients a. a variety of flaked fish food (at least two different kinds for variety, but one will be okay too!) b. calcium dust (powdered calcium) c. Reptomin or other healthy turtle pellet (optional) d. water How to prepare First of all, make sure you wash the bottle cap with hot water (no soap!!!). Next, you spoon out the fish flakes and fill the bottle cap halfway with the fish flakes. Next, put in a thick layer of calcium dust and a few Reptomin pellets over the flakes. Cover up the layer of calcium dust and Reptomin with more fish flakes. Then, carefully spoon in some water until the mixture is moist. Be careful not to splash in the water in the bottle cap because you will just get a big mess. Finally, try to mix the mixture carefully with the top of the spoon. Put it in the freezer (preferably overnight). When you want to feed it to the turtle (after at least 12 hours of being frozen), take it out and let it thaw at room temperature for no more than a minute. How to feed it to the turtles Take the spoon and scrape off the turtle "ice cream" and show it to the turtle. If it does not notice it, try putting some powdered turtle food on top of it so the turtle would be attracted to the smell. Do not let the turtle bite the spoon, because it may hurt its beak. This can be used as a special treat or as "ice cream" for your aquatic turtle's birthday. Please do not substitute for its main diet. This is for aquatic turtles, not for humans!! Do not consume unless you enjoy the taste of turtle food or if you are a turtle yourself (And if you are, boy, am I surprised!) Thank you for taking some time to read this ![]() If you have any suggestions or experiences, please, PLEASE post!!! ![]() ![]() ![]()
