Red Eared Slider Starter Help?

My family and I are looking into getting two RES turtles from a local pet store. I was just looking for a little info. If we got two, whats a good size tank, is it ok to get 2, should we start with one? Any other info is very much appreciated!

Re: Red Eared Slider Starter Help?

Be aware that these turtles are going to get pretty large. They are also very dirty so you will need a very strong filter. They need a proper source of UVB lighting and can also benefit from a varied diet.

You may want to read up on them.

Re: Red Eared Slider Starter Help?

I think the minimum size is a 75 gallon tank with at least twice the filtration power. A canister filter would do good and can be purchased at any good aquarium store. Be sure to read up on proper UVB lighting and diet as well.
