I was planning to build a 500-700Gal pond but it was getting expensive.

I was wondering if a mini pond about 100gal would work with smaller turtles? I can't imagine why it wouldn't when they are living in aquariums. I just want to do the right thing. Do I still need a Skimmer, bottom drain & biofilter? I know I need a pump & filter. This is really complicated to me.

Since you're in San Diego, I'm assuming this could be an outdoor setup?

I have not bought any turtles yet. I'm still researching. I like the spotted & Reeves only because they are smaller than RES which I was considering with a bigger outdoor pond. We live inland so it is very warm all year around. I went to a koi pond store and they had a real nice set up. They said I didn't need a skimmer. I also have to watch out for raccoons Etc. I have a white picket fence area that has a gate so I was going to put the pond in there with a table & two chairs so I drink a glass of wine and enjoy the pond . I have many ideas but the start up is the hardest. I will be visiting different pond stores to gather info and start digging a whole. I'm also going to take pictures of the whole process so others can learn. Any tips would be great. Kathy
