Not Eating
Ol' Yeller isn't eating. He hasn't ate for about three weeks now and his legs, neck, and tail are all thin. Is there something I can do? I have been offering him food everyday; I feed him in a sperate container. I have been giving him a mixture of grapes, apples, and scrambled eggs, I have also tried giving him them separately. I leave him in with the food for about two hours and when I go and check on him everything is still there. I count the pieces of vegetables and fruit. If any one has some advise I would appreciate it.
PS, he hasn't pooped either.

Re: Not Eating
If he appears to be losing weight, I would suggest a vet visit.

The only problem is that I don't know of any good vets around my area; ecspessially not a reptile specialist. Well I'll look around and see what I can find.

Re: Not Eating
This is a painted turtle? Try feeding him some live food. Struggling crickets in water, feeder guppies, or crayfish (of proper size) will usually enduce an appitite. My experience with turtles is they loooove crayfish.

Re: Not Eating
The Red Eared slider I have that i'm rehabing would'nt eat the pellet food he had been used to after i "dry docked" him, i offered both earthworms and shrimp, he loved both, he also eats the occasional cricket, now he'll eat pellets, shrimp, worms, crickets, veggies, so on. along with crickets try offering other food.

Re: Not Eating
Would it be alright to feed him millipedes or small feeder lizards? Possibly an ocasional pinky? Just a little curious.

Re: Not Eating
I personaly would'nt, i don't see the benefit in feeding pinkies and small lizards, i don't think sliders attain the size where prey items like this are really beneficial, in the wild they would eat mostly vegetation, fish, and insects.
as far as millipedes, it would be alot easier to feed crickets, and better for the turtle.
