It doesn't have nearly enough power to deal with THOSE little pooping machines!

Re: New Enclosure For Ol' Yeller

Although if it comes with an undergravel filter I'd recommend using it with a cannister filter. They do make a big difference. However, be prepared to do a big clean up job at least every 6 months. You'll have to remove the gravel and thoroughly clean the gravel. As for the cannister, any external cannister filter works fine, just make sure it's made for an aquarium twice the size of the one you own. This is a minimum, I'd actually recommend getting a filter made for a tank 3 times the size you're using. They're expensive, but you'll enjoy crystal clear water much longer. As for bricks, I can't gaurentee they are safe, but I have a friend who's been using bricks for "landscaping" in his turtle aquariums for over 10 years, and myself for 3 years now and haven't had any problems. Just make sure the bricks are -secure-, you don't want them falling onto your turtles!

Re: New Enclosure For Ol' Yeller

Just thought of something. Would the width of a normal 55 gallon aquarium be a problem? It doesn't look very wide.
