Whats the Smallest Turtle Speices???

im looking for the smallest turtle speices cause I was thinking of owning something small since im new to turtles and I wanted something that wouldnt get to big....is there any out there that would be good in like a 30 gallon tank???? Iwould also like to now everything they would need for me to keep one.... thank you for your help

Well the smallest turtle is the speckled padloper tortoise, but they're not available as far as I know

The smallest you're likely to be able to get in captivity would be either a mud or a musk turtle. However, just because they're available in captivity doesn't mean they're easy to come by. Also, don't mistake smaller size for easier care. They're just as challenging as any other turtle, just with less space requirements. I would think you could fit one in a 30 gallon though.
