Interesting Photo: Hatchling and Adult RES

I was looking at turtle pictures in a turtle website and I found the size comparison between a baby hatchling and an adult female Red-ear Slider. Credit goes to Austin's Turtle Page. Care Sheet - Red Ear Slider

Re: Interesting Photo: Hatchling and Adult RES

They should have to put pictures like that on every animal thats sold, in every pet store.
Might help people realize that cute little baby is not going to stay little long.

Very true, that might reduce the number of unwanted purchased RES's because they get too big for the owner to handle.

If only...

Maybe we should make a set of cards and keep them in our wallets every time we go into a pet store.

Re: Interesting Photo: Hatchling and Adult RES

I hope they didn't put those two turtles in the same enclosure, the adult could easily swallow the hatchling in seconds.

The females get up to 12 inches with proper care, and most males only get up to 8-9.5 inches, which is still pretty big, lol

Re: Interesting Photo: Hatchling and Adult RES

I've heard there size compared to dinner plates before.

As for the cards... Not a bad idea. I believe there was a post about that before.

Re: Interesting Photo: Hatchling and Adult RES

The bigger turtles individual scutes are larger then the entire baby turtle. Does give you an idea how big they get.
