Re: Turtle in Bad Shape... Needs Help.

Thanks. He's going to be looked over by the rescue, but they cant until Monday, so it will have to wait a little bit. Until then ive been keeping up with routine "matinence" He's currently in a ten gallon tank, dry, but a bowl big enough for him to fit his entire body in. I also soak him, i dont want him getting dehydrated, and after his soaking is when I clean his shell up with antiseptics.
Thats a good idea about checking around vetrinary schools, but im not sure where the closest one is located, or if there are any around here anyway.
Thanks for everyones support.

Re: Turtle in Bad Shape... Needs Help.

So, yesterday the RES was looked over by the lady from the rescue. She said it did look like some kind of shell infection, but that it was well along the path of healing, how he managed to heal up I don't know, when he came in the water in his tank was green, disgusting, and smelled like it had never been cleaned. I was told so long as I give him a nice basking spot he can have water back in his tank, instead of just a water bowl.
Which is great because he's been a picky eater since I took the water out, wont eat the dry turtle food, only worms, shrimp, and the occasional cricket.

I think i'll do a half land half water setup for now, so he has plenty of space to bask, then eventualy increase the amount of water.

as long as he keeps doing good maybe i'll be able to find a good permanant home for him.
