Chinatown Turtles....
I AM OUTRAGED! I went to Chinatown again with my family and my mom's friend from another country who wanted to visit Chinatown. This time, when was walking behind my family, I noticed a little plastic container across the street. I hoped it wasn't what I thought. Unfortunately, it was. I came and inspected the container, and it had two baby Red-Eared Sliders in it, barely clinging on to their lives. They were the size of quarters. The little water they had was ice-cold. The seller of the turtles, who thought I was going to buy it, told me the turtles cost five dollars for the two turtles and the container. I told her these were illegal to sell, and she replied."I don't speak English, sorry." And ignores me.
The point is, I want to help these turtles. I want to get the government aware of these illegal acts. I am not sure how I can help, I'm fairly young, 15 years old. I really want to stop the sale of the poor turtles, but I don't know how!

Re: Chinatown Turtles....
I think you can contact your local Fish and Wildlife service for that. Just don't give up Some places put this stuff on a lower priority than others, but it IS illegal, so they should do something.

Re: Chinatown Turtles....
That is so sad... You can also try and contact your local animal control or the humane society for that district. If they cant help, you can usually get them to point you in the right direction. Good Luck!!

Re: Chinatown Turtles....
I would contact the humane society. Tell them as much as possible about where the lady was, what she looked like, and anything else you can remember. Next time if possible, snap a photo.

Isn't it amazing how they can understand you just fine until you say something they don't like
I'd call the humane society as well as the local wildlife department.

Re: Chinatown Turtles....
I would think she was selling them to put into a soup or some other Chinese dinner recipe.
Good luck if you get through to the Humane Society or Fish and Game Dept.
