Re: New Photos of Sasha's Redone Home
I have similar humidity problems for Cuff and Link (3-toed boxies) and I have a pretty similar setup - reptibark included (i just can't make myself throw it away, either!). In the morning, if humidity looks low, or I know I"m going to have to turn up the house heat (thus sucking humidity out) I'll let it "rain" for a while. Basically, I pour water from a gallon jug through the screen very slowly, until there is a sufficiently wet (though not muddy) bottom around the water area, and in the drier parts - Link loves it, and usually stretches her neck out into the water, or chases droplets! Cuff doesn't care (about anything, really!), and that seems to hold humidity up a little longer than just misting.
Let me know if something really works great for you - I'm always open to advise, especially as I plan for a bigger better habitat for them.

Hmmm....I'll have to try this. Since the weather was somewhat warmer this week, I turned off the bigger heat lamp and am just using the full spectrum light. So the humidity has been staying a little better. Of course, it's going to get cold again starting tonight, so I'll have to try this.

Re: New Photos of Sasha's Redone Home
You are right indeed, Merlin. Sasha is a 3-toed box turtle (to be specific), although she is small, even for 3-toed box turtles. Her shell is barely 4 inches long.
I've had Sasha for about 13-14 years, but she was already an adult when I got her from a horrible pet store (I had to rush her to the vet the day after I got her - the vet said that if she hadn't been brought in, she would have died).
Now that I'm slightly more knowledgeable and aware, I realize that there is a very good likelihood that she was wild caught.
Um...thanks for the compliment on the crickets? They are turning into the bane of my existence. I need to completely redo her enclosure this weekend. I had bought about 10 crickets so she'd have "munchies". Well, apparently THOSE crickets decided to lay eggs (or whatever it is that crickets do) before becoming dinner. I looked in one day and saw cute little tiny baby crickets.
Ummmm...yeah....didja know they grow up?? So now I've got a BUNCH of noisy creep annoying adult crickets hosting their own Woodstock type love-in in my turtle's enclosure. Lucky me!
I've been freaking out because she keeps walking away when I give her food. Well no WONDER! She's snacking away all day long!!! AAARGH!
Chocolate coated crickets anyone?
