OK, recently, after noticing that her shell looked....well, terrible, I started asking a lot of advice about my box turtle, Sasha (who, it turns out, is a three-toed box turtle, not a gulf coast box turtle). As a result, I ended up redoing her enclosure and I got a special shell conditioner for her shell. Here pictures I took of her yesterday.

And this is what her shell USED to look like. Big improvement, yes? As you can see, I also trimmed her nails. Still debating about whether I should get her beak trimmed. IT doesn't interfere with her eating. And she is really enjoying chewing on cuttlebone which might grind it down a bit.

Re: Sasha

Thanks. Can anyone tell? Should her toenails be shorter than that? I took them down a LOT, but I didn't want to go too short and accidentally hurt her.

Re: Sasha

It's hard to say about the nails because we aren't there looking at the quicks, just cut a little off at a time and if you draw blood keep some cornstarch handy to stop the bleeding.
