Re: Good news and very bad news.

you definitely should have quarantined him. i hope the other turtles will be alright because after being away that long you have no idea what this new one could have picked up or has now if he hasn't been in to see a vet. i would be concerned about your other turtles and keep them seperated so no nasties go around. especially after what happened with Sunny, even though she was seperated from the others. i would not chance it. its too high a risk putting a turtle from outside in with already established turtles who were healthy.

i'm with the others on this and about keeping them quarantined. i'd rather have to treat one turtle for illnesses than have to end up treating all four. one is expensive enough to treat but four would be alot worse especially if you're unable to seperate them all for treatment.

he's had one since you got him back yesterday? And you already got the results back?

I watched him very closely. I looked at my watch to check the time, and when I looked at Jimmy, he was gone.
That couldn't have happened as you are describing it. I don't mean to call you out, but that is just not factual. You couldn't have been watching him one second, and then looked at your watch, and he was gone. If this were an iguana, perhaps the speed in which they can move would make this almost possible, but there is no way that a 2 second glance at a watch resulted in a turtle sprinting off to the point where it couldn't be found for months.

I also want some clarification on the fecal. Again, it appears as if you are altering the truth. If you had a fecal done, it would either come back as clean or it would be positive for parasites. It doesn't "seem alright".

Re: Good news and very bad news.

I agree with rich. Don't tell us what you think we want to hear. This forum is about learning. It seems like you "know" what is right, but for some reason you don't do what is right. No, you are not chopping its head off like those other kids and you are providing a warm, safe environment. But please follow our advice. I know your mom can be strict over this stuff. Maybe you can do more things around the house to earn more allowance? I mean, you said you had a separate set up for Sunny, why not put your new/old turtle in that for a month? It would be for the benefit for the rest of your clan.

I had to keep my Philip separated from the rest of the guys when I bought him. It was a tough 45 days. BUT he turned out AOK. If he had been sick and infected he would have given it to the rest of my clan, and that was 6 frogs!!!
