What substrate is not harmful and attractive?
Hey!
I've been reading online that gravel in a red-eared slider's tank may get swallowed by the turtle, causing stomache pains. So now the tank looks...unattractive
I know this site helps me out a lot, so what should I use for the substrate?

Re: What substrate is not harmful and attractive?
are you talking about in the water or the land section? what are you using now that looks unattractive? You might try some large flat pieces of slate for in the water, these might not provide enough traction for the land section tho... Good luck!

coco-husk. it comes in bricks and doesn't get impacted. It looks like dirt but its not! I love the smell of it too. very organic smelling.

I'm talking about in the water, thanks for all the suggestions! I guess I'll go with the slate idea. I'm not using any substrate for the tank, lol, my turtles don't like it

Re: What substrate is not harmful and attractive?
Not to sound sarcastic but try looking in a few rivers around your area. The water smooths them down so nice they're perfect.
