Pretty cool Ken!
When I hear 'terrapin" I automatically think more terrestrial.
Are they that aquatic?

Re: Gimli, Diamonback terrapin
Diamonbacks are pretty much totaly aquatic. 1/3 of the tank is rock that comes completely out of the water and has UVB/basking bulbs above. He spends maybe 2 or 3 hours a day basking, the rest swimming. They will only eat in water. The 1 bummer with them are that are ferocious eaters and tear apart food which causes alot of waste buildup in the water. If the water is not kept pristine clean they get succeptible to many dieases so the water has to be cleaned like 3 times a week even though it's filtered. There worth it though, especially as they mature as there colors are amazing.

Re: Gimli, Diamonback terrapin
So they are basically the same care as the red ear sliders?

Re: Gimli, Diamonback terrapin
Basically,,,,,though diamonbacks in the wild will survive well in brackish water and salt marshes which is more there natural habitat than fresh water. They can tolerate both rather well. Mine is a Malaclemys terrapin centrata,or carolina terrapin (sometimes called the chesapeake terrapin)
