Lost White's

Help! Fortunately, he is a croaker - but what else can I do to try and find him other than listening (and searching and treading VERY carefully).

When he escaped my bedroom door was closed as was my window, so I know he is in here somewhere.

Re: Lost White's

Make sure you look up. Check behind curtains and tank. Where havent you looked that might not be so obvious? Ive looked for lost snakes but never a frog.

Re: Lost White's

I"ve checked behind the tank, under the tank, curtains, everywhere.

I have a small "critter keeper" for the crickets, if I leave that in the room tonight is he likely to come to them searching for food?

That and maybe a heat source like pad or light which might draw him/her to it.

Re: Lost White's

Along with a water bowl. Chances are he'll look for somewhere to soak, especialy if its dry in your room, i'd set it somewhere high enough he'd feel secure, but not too high.
You could also try playing some of the recorded whites tree frog calls. dim the lights and it may prompt him to respond.
heres a link to a post with some sound bites,

Re: Lost White's

Thanks for the help guys - i played some clips and hey responded, and I found him

I hope he doesn't get sick - he had found his way into a fish filter of an old fish tank I have sitting in my room (a breeding ground for bacteria, I imagine). He seems alright, I sat him in his water and tried to give him a bit of a rinse off (which he was NOT having at all, he kept trying to jump away).

Anyway, thanks again!

Re: Lost White's

Welcome, glad to hear you found him. You'll want to keep an eye on him these next few days, maybe even put papertowels down in his tank to more closely watch him. But usualy the bacteria in a fishtank bio filter are not going to be too harmful, but id still watch him. Id rinse him in a seperate dish, and make sure to replace that water in his bowl. other then that do your best to keep him happy, a stressed frog is Much more susceptible to infections and ailments then a happy frog.

Re: Lost White's

Will do - I rinsed him initially in his water from last night (changed daily) and then again in clean water. I'll try to replace his water again before he gets up for the evening (if I am home by then!) the old tank has been moved to storage, so he can't get in it again. Hopefully he will be ok!

i';m glad you found your froggie. Keep an eye on him, if his poops change or he loses his appetite, i would see a vet.
