White's Tree Frogs Question
Well, my daughter was looking at millipedes...now she's also checking out White's Tree Frogs (it will be interesting to see what we end up with! )...she wants to know if you can have just one frog alone, or if they require to be kept in at least pairs...Any help would be very much appreciated!

Re: White's Tree Frogs Question
They can be kept alone with no problems. I had one alone for along time and she did just fine.

Re: White's Tree Frogs Question
To my knowledge they are fine solo. Have her check out our caresheet:

Re: White's Tree Frogs Question
Thank you both for the replies. I let her know. She's been going over that caresheet with a fine-toothed comb for about the last 45 minutes but couldn't find anywhere that it said whether they could be alone or not. She also found a sound file online of the call of a White's Tree Frog, and I have to laugh. It sounds just like it's calling her name! "Maaa-ggieee, Maaaa-ggieeee, Maggie!"

Re: White's Tree Frogs Question
how can anyone have just ONE whites tree frog? Thats like next to impossible. Sort of like passing up a bowl of chocolate chip ice cream.

Re: White's Tree Frogs Question
haha. Actualy, i actualy wonder, would a frog prefer to be by himself, or would they want a buddy to "sing" with at night. Im actually kind of looking foward to the noise at night, my rooms pretty much a jungle anyway.

Re: White's Tree Frogs Question
Greenie, who is now in the care of Liz was a loner for about a year before I got her a friend. And she always seemed content. But she also was content to have roommates as well. I think as long as you have the space for more than one, you can go with whatever option suits you. I have noticed that Greenie was a bit more happy being held than the others. She was always content to sit with me, and the others all seem to want to explore...

Re: White's Tree Frogs Question
So, does anyone think that the White's call closely resembles the way that the aliens on 'mars attacks' talk?

Re: White's Tree Frogs Question
Hmmm...we thought they were saying "Maggie" but maybe they are saying "ack-ack" ("Do not run; we are your friends")
Here's a question...do White's Tree Frogs sing loudly all night long? It would be in her room, so I don't know if it's something that might keep her awake all night...

Re: White's Tree Frogs Question
they don't usually "sing" for long periods of time. Usually there is a sound that sets them off. and they will go on for a couple of minuets and then stop. Plus only the males sing, so if you got a female you wouldn't have to worry about it...
