which is funny, because greenie NEVER wants to just sit with me. She is ALL OVER the place. Her newest thing is to hang out in the jade tree while everyone else is eating.

Here's a question...do White's Tree Frogs sing loudly all night long? It would be in her room, so I don't know if it's something that might keep her awake all night...

Pray they are not like the Pacific Tree frogs I got from Lacy, lol They love to seen in harmony. Either that or they are yelling FEEEEEED MEEEE!!

Re: White's Tree Frogs Question
greenie tries to squeeze out my hand and lets out an annoying bark if I won't let her.
My frogs are quiet for the most part. Once in a while I'll get to hear the whites, but no one else makes a peep.

Re: White's Tree Frogs Question
I swear Marsha I got rid of the loud ones before I shipped to you, those were all supposed to be female when I divided the herd, but they appear to have been oppressed males who are enjoying being the top frogs now.

Re: White's Tree Frogs Question
Those are so cute!
Does anyone out there use paper towels or something similar to line the bottom of the cage as opposed to bark/moss, etc.? Are they fairly easy to clean up after? Or are they really messy? I appreciate the help...I want Maggie to know exactly what she's getting into if she decides to get one or two.
Which is the best approach for warming the tank? A bulb or a heat mat/rope or something along those lines? I've seen both sorts of things mentioned...We live in Florida, but it's been getting down pretty low at night lately, which means the house gets close to 60 degrees Fahrenheit on those nights, which is a bit too cool for frogs (right? That's about 8 degrees cooler than the care sheet recommends as a low). Some sort of tank warmer would be in order, I think. Turning the central heat in the house up isn't really an option because then our heating bill is over $300/month.
Here's one more question: Do they shed easily? Or are they prone to shedding problems?

Re: White's Tree Frogs Question
The dirt/soil is actually probably better for them because it helps to keep the humidity up. Not very messy at all, I used to just use a plastic spoon to scoop out the solid waste whenever I noticed it.
A light bulb works well, if its still cold at night then add a Ceramic Heat Emitter.
Shedding issues aren't really a problem for frogs, but the first time you see them shedding it can be kinda scary. They kinda blow themselves up and push the skin up from their backside towards the head, then eat it. It really looks like they are throwing up.

Re: White's Tree Frogs Question
Shell has it. Also think about a live plant to put in with the frog. They will appreciate the hiding place. Pothos are great. Think branches for them to climb on and a bowl to soak in.
If its cold at night, use a heat emitter or a night bulb. I have a heat emitter and it keeps my tank around 73 at night. once the lights go on, it jumps to 83.
As long as you keep the humidity right, they shouldn't have a problem shedding.
Here is a REALLY simple setup I had in a 29 gallon tank. all the sticks and plants were found. Well, the plants were from cuttings and the sticks and rocks came from my friends 3 acre backyard where I knew there weren't going to be any pesticides. I think the whole thing cost me $12 for the dirt, coconut husk shred. I already had the tank and stand and dish.
I also had the light fixture, but it ran me $40 and I got it from Petsmart.
