HELP!!!! Frog won't eat!!!
HELP!!! My latest additioin, a red legged running frog, won't eat!! He's getting thinnner and thinner and I have tried to make sure food is available for him. I've even tried putting him in a plastic tub by himself with a few crickets. He ignores them!! I can see his ribs, backbone, everything. Is there any way to force feed??

Re: HELP!!!! Frog won't eat!!!
no, you can't force feed.
Take him to a vet. there is a good chance he has parasites, especially if he was wild caught.
And PLEASE separate your frogs. The tank you have is far too small and they all have different temperature requirements.

I would also put him in his OWN hospital tank. If he does have parasites its a good chance he will give it to the others. Did you quarantine him before introducing to the tank with the others?

Re: HELP!!!! Frog won't eat!!!
You may want to keep a very close eye on the others. I would separate them as much as possible, i realize it may be hard to materialize 4 or 5 tanks out of nowhere, were I you, i would look around for one of the old petstore set up's, like rack tanks, or build your own, one tank per specie. They can get pricey though. Building them shouldnt be that hard, i'd ask around, or google it.

and you can always find used 10 or 20 gallon tanks on craigs list, super cheap.

Re: HELP!!!! Frog won't eat!!!
10 gallon tanks are never more than like, 10 dollars. 40 dollars of preventative measure is better than hundereds of dollars worth of vet bills

Re: HELP!!!! Frog won't eat!!!
you REALLY need to separate them all! It is not surprising that at least one of them is getting sick. I am surprised that it has taken this long. They ALL have different needs not to mention the fact that you tank is barely big enough for one or two of them...
as for the sick one you should get it to a vet... plain and simple.

Re: HELP!!!! Frog won't eat!!!
I would like to thank all of you who have posted a response to my initial question regarding my red legged frog. He has since passed. I also have taken all the advice and seperated all my frogs except for the 2 Cubans. They have the enclosure I mentioned and everyone else is in a 5.5 gallon of their own. I got a deal on them from one of my local pet shops. Each tank cost me $10 including the screen cover. (Of course, now there is barely any room for me in the frog room) I may eventually get some pictures posted of them all. Is there anything I should be giving (medicine/vitamins/ etc) to the others that may have been exposed? I called the pet store today to report his demise and they said the other tree frogs from that shipment had also died. (same species and only ones on that shipment) I forgot to ask them about a preventative medicine for the others.

Re: HELP!!!! Frog won't eat!!!
5.5 is pretty much too small for any of those frogs. 10 gallon would be minimum, and 20 gallon would be better. The bigger the better.
You can keep species together in one enclosure, that is fine, but mixing species is bad.
and yes, all your other frogs may have been exposed. Sounds like a bunch of wild caught frogs to me, and they can harbor tons of parasites. Keep a good eye out on all your other guys.

Re: HELP!!!! Frog won't eat!!!
You may want to take your other frogs to a vet, and get them checked out. They've all been exposed to whatever the frog died of. Better to catch a disease early than to have another one die on you.
