Tree Frogs for my mini Rainforest?

This is what our member has to say: I can understand how you feel. It's not really fair to them to just sit around in a cage all their life....

Not just not fair, but not humane. That opinion is also coming from someone who has had birds before. I bred Zebra finches before, and after that don't think I plan on ever having birds again. If I were to have a zoo sized open air cage (like the ones people can walk into) maybe i'd consider birds, but I doubt it. The Exeption of course is rescue birds.

Re: Tree Frogs for my mini Rainforest?

I dunno. I have a friend with a senagol parrot. He stays in the cage when she is at work and sleeping at night. Kinda like how people keep dogs crated. Then when she is home, she lets the bird fly around. Sure it poops all over things, but she doesn't care. I think its a happy medium for keeping birds.

were all intilted to our own opinions, but to me flying from one side of the living room to another, just don't quite cut it.

Besides the fact that they can fly into something and get injured or killed!

Re: Tree Frogs for my mini Rainforest?

i agree with you there Merlin. i let my bird out from the time I am up in the morning until the time I go to bed. but I keep his wings clipped because I would be devestated if he flew into something and hurt himself, like a ceiling fan or if he flew out into the kitchen and landed on the hot stove or into a sink full of soapy water where he could drown. also I take him outside in the summer time and I would be very upset if something spooked him and he flew away. a friend of mine used to have a lovebird she didn't clip its wings. one day something startled it and it flew straight into a wall and hurt itself so badly it died a couple hours later. she was so upset.

but either way this isn't really about birds. i think ryan that enclosure is very nice looking even if you never decided to put something in it. it might look quite nice with some live plants inside and just leave it like that with no herps though i'm not sure what it would take to do that.

Re: Tree Frogs for my mini Rainforest?

I ended up buying a 29 reptile tank, with attached screen lid for about $40. THe tank topper went on my gecko's tank, and the plants ad substrate will be used in the 29, whatever ends up going in.

Re: Tree Frogs for my mini Rainforest?

i think that sounds pretty good for $40 bucks and i'm sure your gecko will appreciate the extra space.
