Do I have enough room? |
| This is what our member has to say: I had planned on getting a 3rd frog, but now I'm not so sure if I have the room for a 3rd in my tank.

Do I have enough room?
I had planned on getting a 3rd frog, but now I'm not so sure if I have the room for a 3rd in my tank.
Its a 37 gallon, which normally would be OK, but because its a vivarium, I want to say 8 gallons is taken up by rocks, and cork bark along the back. This leaves me with 30 gallons of space. You can see Isabel in the center on the curly-Q vine
one more frog? yes/no?

Re: Do I have enough room?
You shouldn't have a problem fitting another in there. If you think about it, the amount of space one more frog will occupy is minimal compared to the amount of empty space. Plus in a place like that they'll have plenty of comfortable places to hide

Yeah, but they are MUCH smaller than my White's. Hmmm, i wonder if the care sheet has size requirements....

Thanks
****Edit****
OK, thinking out loud. The care sheet said 2 frogs can fit into a 90cm x 45cm x 60cm enclosure, which is roughly 35 x 17 x 24 which on a fish tank website I found out to be rougly 65 gallons??? So according to the website right now, I don't even have enough room for my current critters. Why doesn't this seem right? 65 gallons for 2 tree frogs? I mean yes, I"m sure more space would make them really happy, but 65 gallons?
now I feel like a bad mommie.

Re: Do I have enough room?
Don't worry: You have a beautiful home for your frogs. If they are healthy and eating; you are doing fine. In a tank like that, they are some pretty lucky frogs.
If you decide to get another, make sure you have somewhere to keep it quarantined for a while... it would be a shame if a new critter brought parasites or disease with it.

Re: Do I have enough room?
I already have a quarantine tank set up I think I will get the additional frog since no one is yelling at me that it's too small.

Re: Do I have enough room?
Sometimes I think the specific space measurements like the ones you've found are more like guidelines, especially if the species isn't especially territorial. (I don't have any frogs so I don't know whether they are or not.)
As long as they have room to move around, and their health isn't failing, I don't see why you need to go by specific cage dimensions. The one in the picture looks really happy.

Re: Do I have enough room?
The current residents are SUPER happy. They turn really dark when stressed out, and since the move, they have been very deeply their natural color.
