Socializing sulcata tortoises...

Hi! I wonder how you guys socialize your sulcata tortoises? I do know they can be socialized, becaused I've seen torts that crave human company.

My sulcata has grown somewhat, and there are no signs of pyramiding or any type of mal-husbandry. I've researched extensively on the upkeeping of their health, and I think I've done a good job (good appetite, healthy moderate steady growth, normal pooping and basking behaviour, all the necessities as far as hides, humidity in the hide while dryer outside, temps etc.) But while I think I have health covered, I am coming up short on socializing.

I say socializing because he isn't unTAME. He doesn't bite, isn't aggressive or anything. He just seems very scared of people, and would hide in the shell whenever I put my hand in there, even to put the food in. He doesnt seem to crave a lot of the "occasional" treats that are recommended in manycare sheets like small amounts of carrots, with the exception being choy sum. I do not know if I should try to hand feed him any more than once a week either as I do not want to spoil him like I did with my iguana.

Any methods would be appreciated.
