Re: ideal tortoise

Ehhh...good luck, from what I hear Torts can be a real handful, not to mention the cost of upkeep. I'm not well versed on the specifics maybe a russian tortoise, but don't quote me on that.

Re: ideal tortoise

Hmmm... Sounds like you're looking into buying a number of different herps. Might I suggest getting just one and waiting a little before getting the next one?

I only suggest this because you don't know the animal you are taking in. If you get the tortoise and the chameleon at one time and then realize that one has the personality of a 3-year-old in permanent tantrum mode, you might find yourself overwhelmed and unable to bear the expense or time expectations.

It's usually better to get one animal and take care of it for a few months and get used to what its needs are, then decide whether you can afford to take on another.

I hope you find one of the animals you are looking for, though.

Re: ideal tortoise

I've been recently looking into Torts as well. What I've found is the smaller they are the more expensive they generally are. Some intersting ones are Egyptian, Hermans, and Indian Star. You'll be spending more than $200 for sure though.

And that is not even considering what you will have to pay to set up a habitat!
A ten gallon tank won't cut it!
