Desert Tortoise
Recently when I went out to check on my tortoises I noticed that my female had laid 3 eggs, 2 were in her house and one was just outside (They sleep in a large wooden dog house). We immediately put them in an incubator. When I looked online though it said most lay their eggs from April to July. I was wondering if anyone has had a similar experience with late egg laying and not properly burying them, and whether they hatched or not. I have a feeling they won't hatch but we are going to incubate them for a while just in case.

Re: Desert Tortoise
I also dont know much about tortoises,
But I think it could be related to temps having suddenly changed.
I used to breed Koi fish and if there was a sudden spike in temps they would also spawn and if it was cold for longer the spawning was delayed..
Hope they hatch.
Good Luck

Re: Desert Tortoise
90s?! Wow, jealous. It's 32 degrees here right now. If it was 90 up here in Washington I might lay an egg myself, ha ha!
