I wasn't sure where to post this, hopefully this the correct place.

Someone told me that my box turtle will need to hibernate. Since she is normally kept inside is this true? If so what do I need to do for her? My basement is cool should I put her down there with enough substrate to complete bury herself???

Kelly you do not HAVE to. There are many captive and wild caught specimens kept as pets that never hibernate/brumate or have done so prior to captivation then never again. There have been talks that it may add to the lifespan but to my knowledge that has not been proven yet. If he's indoors, I would say keep him that way and care for him as you have been doing. When and if you decide to go the outdoor route you can determine then if hibernation/brumation is what you'd like to do.
